Process for creating, for example, a 2-D necklace pendant:
When creating a 2-D piece of jewellery, the design is redrawn in a drawing program, and a render (preview) image is then created. The pendant is laser-cut from a 0.6 mm thick silver sheet, and the edges are finished. Certain parts of the surface can then be matted and/or blackened to add more depth. Afterwards, a hole is drilled, and a chain eyelet is mounted. The maximum diameter for a round 2-D pendant is 30 mm. The maximum width for a pendant is 80 mm, and the maximum height is 33 mm. The delivery time is approximately 1-2 weeks.
Process for making, for example, a 3-D pendant:
Creating a 2.5-D or 3-D piece of jewelry takes much more time and involves many more steps. Firstly, a 3-D drawing program is needed, and depending on the design, several hours of drawing may be required before a 3-D render image can be produced. Next, a wax model is printed using a special 3-D printer. This wax model is then refined. Afterward, the pendant is cast in silver (a complex process), and various (post-)treatments and finishes are needed until it becomes a complete piece of jewelry. Additionally, for silver jewelry weighing over 7 grams and gold jewelry over 1 gram, a legal hallmark (925 or 585) must be applied by the Dutch Assay Office.
This described method is very time-consuming, partly because multiple adjustments are often requested during the process. The costs are therefore significantly higher than for a 2-D piece of jewelry. Delivery time approximately 3-4 weeks.
Material selection?
We only make your jewelry in 925 silver or 14 carat gold. We do not make gold-plated jewelry. This is a conscious choice because the gold layer can wear off over time. We only make quality jewelry that you will enjoy for a very long time.
